Happy Birthday, Mom!

Hi all! My mom's birthday was last week. And tomorrow we are spending the whole day together, yea!!!! I am REALLY looking forward to having a a "girl day" some shopping, lunch, and I have the WHOLE day for fun! :)

So, I am **late** getting this card made, but since I knew I was going to see her, I thought I'd give her a birthday card/gift then.

I used my new Papertrey Ink stamps and dies, that was my jumping off point for the card... I went in search of a sketch and found this cool one in the Mojo Monday archives, a great resource for sketches!

This is sketch 140 from 5/2010. I flipped it onto it's side and subbed my PTI die shape for the square shape. I used some cute MME and SU! DPs. Lots of layering and lining everything up just so.... And, in the LR hand corner of the square panel, it is NOT crooked cutting, I swear! The adhesive wasn't stuck down all the way, LOL! For the tab, I used a small Nestabilities die & some sticker letters to spell out "mom."

The button in the LL hand corner uses a technique I like to use sometimes, I opened up the prongs of a decorative brad all the way (pull the prongs apart so they are sticking straight up) and then I put the prongs through the holes in the button, to create this "layered button" effect. Kind of fun & not  a technique I see used very often.
In the inside of the card, I put this cute sticker, I'd been saving it for a card for my Mom. The colors and shapes just happened to work beautifully with this! :)

Well, that's it for me today, folks! Be back in a couple days with some more fun challenges! :)

xoxo, Noelle

supply list: stamps: Papertrey Ink; dies: Papertrey Ink & Spellbinders; DP: Stampin' Up! and My Mind's Eye; button: Crate Paper; letter stickers: Authentique; sticker: lilybee design; brad: BoBunny

DUST IT OFF!: Pull out some papers you haven't used in awhile, but still love! :)

Mixing the old with the new 1st Halloween card of the year!

Hi there! Wanted to share my first Halloween card of the year. I ordered some new goodies from Inkadinkado  and Papertrey Ink. Everything came yesterday evening, it was like Christmas for me! :) I wanted to use my new goodies on a Halloween card. I ordered so many cute Halloween stamps over at Inkadinkado ;) They had a sale when I ordered and all the Halloween stamps were 20% off, so this Trickster Cat mini set and most of the other stamps I ordered were only 1.60 a piece! Woot woot, I love me a good deal and so cute as well.... You'll be seeing more in the upcoming months :)

Shockingly enough, I'd never ordered anything from Papertrey Ink before.... and OH MY GOSH, if you haven't you should go over there & check it out, so many cool stamps and coordinating dies. I had to rein myself in and keep it to these stamps, and the coordinating layering dies, all of which I used on this card. I also ordered some test tubes, so I can make some adorable Halloween goodies like Niki Estes these are too cute! The final thing I got from there were some clear boxes to package my cards in. I have so many cards, and as much as I love Etsy, I just haven't had the drive to spend time posting (and posting regularly, too...) to make 3-5$ per card. So, I decided to package some up/ 4 to a box and save them for when I need little gifts! In fact, I used a box today! :)

Ok, enough yammering, I know.... ;) My card: started with a base of handmade paper (I love this stuff/generic brand, I bought it at Xpedx if you have one of those...) and added a strip of late year's SU! Halloween DSP with a punched strip behind. Then topped it off with the die cut and stamped pieces. The cat was heat embossed with black EP on ivory cardstock and fussy cut. I colored his eyes and nose with markers and used pop dots to attach him to the die cut. The colors used on this card are: Ivory, Black, Rich Razzleberry, Concord Crush, and Old Olive. I hope you like it! I am SO READY for fall! Bring on the cooler weather, autumn leaves, hot cider, and cute Halloween crafts! I CAN'T WAIT!!! :)

Have a stellar day!! xoxox, Noelle

supply list: stamps: Inakdinkado & Papertrey Ink; dies: Papertrey Ink; punch: EK Success; DP: Stampin' Up! and generic; solid cardstock: SU!; black embossing powder and heat gun; ink pads and markers: SU!

DUST IT OFF!: Use last year's DP scraps for your cards this year! Don't forget your trusty non-themed punches either!!

ColourQ 100!!!!

Hi all! VERY exciting fun over at colourQ today, as it is our ONE HUNDREDTH challenge! I hope you will come play! For this commemorative week, we are using a sketch from clean&simple stamping and ANY past colourQ palette! They are all on the sidebar at the colourQ blog. I used palette 72.

Here's my page....

I did a lot more stamping on this page than I have as of late! I used the birthday themed builder wheels from Stampin' Up! as the base of my page. I stamped them in Versamark ink and used chalk over them. An old technique I hadn't pulled out in awhile, and I like the way it turned out!!! For the title block I background stamped with the woodgrain stamp before stamping the "look who's" with some cute (but old!!) acrylic stamps by Sassafrass Lass. The chipboard "8" I had was bright turquoise & wasn't going to fly with the colors, so I covered it in DP to get the color I wanted. I layered the 8 over a Tim Holtz journaling tag and accented it with an old chipboard heart from my stash. The acrylic stars are accented with a red felt brad that I covered myself and some blue snap/eyelet things. At the bottom of the page, I found this half a pocket in my stash, all made up from when I did this card waaaaay back in January! I thought it would be a cute accent for this page. I stapled a ticket with the date to the LL hand corner of the pic. For the banner I used a jumbo stamp wheel with stars on it, which I inked up with the inkpad since I didn't have a cartridge that color, and trimmed down to size. Used a fun BasicGrey birthday sticker in the middle of the banner to accent. Here's some detailed shots for ya....

I hope you like my page! And I hope that YOU will come over to colourQ and pair your fave of the last 99 palettes with this fun sketch to play with us on our 100th week! :)

Have a stellar day!! xoxo, Noelle

supply list: solid cardstock and inkpads/cartridges: Stampin' Up!; stamps: SU!, Sassafrass, Close to my Heart; pastels: SU!; sticker: BasicGrey; ticket and navy blue DP: My Mind's Eye; journaling ticket behind 8: Tim Holtz; acrylic stars and chipboard heart: Heidi Swapp; felt brad made with iTop; blue snaps: making memories

DUST IT OFF!: Pleased to tell you there are SO many old goodies on this page! The pastels for one, also the chipboard heart, that half pocket piece, the acrylic stars and the snaps, the star wheel, the pocket stamp, even that blue ticket with the date is pretty old! Now I'll feel less guilty playing with the NEW supplies I just got in the mail last night! :)

Kids Art Center

Hi there! No paper crafts for you today, but I know that the organization posts have been the most popular I've written. Here and here they are if you are needing some crafty organization tips. Maybe I should include organization tips at the bottom of each page instead of "dust it off" tips! But still today's post is a bit different.... Being involved in theater for much as my life, as well as being a crafter for most of it too, creativity is HUGELY important to me! And, after having two little boys who just weren't all that into coloring, painting, chalk, etc., my 3rd son, Ev is HUGE into art! Super fun for him AND me! :) I have been meaning to put this space together for him for AWHILE! So glad I finally got myself together and did this! I have this very pretty curved staircase in my house. When we bought this house I thought I would put a pretty round table here, maybe some flowers, etc. But then cold hard REALITY kicked in, LOL! That may be a possibility for someday, but for now, while I've still got three rambunctious boys throwing balls, wrestling, and spilling all over my house.... well, I can just see that delicate vase getting knocked over and broken, as well as, the pretty round table getting colored on by Evan! I have a strong belief that kids come into your life and home, not the other way around, and even though we do have "nice" rooms in our house as well, I decided it would be better to turn this into functional, usable space, and save the pretties for later in life! ;)

I actually had almost everything on hand I needed to make this space up, too. The only things I bought to make this work, were the vinyl for the floor, to cover my pretty bamboo floors up and keep them from getting paint or marker on them! Also, those cute little hooks on the wall, I happened upon those last night at JoAnn crafts, on sale for only 2.50 a piece! Too perfect for this space and cheap too! What could be better, I ask you? :) Would still love to have something to hang above the easel... in fact I do have a cute board with clips on it for hanging kids art, but as this wall is curved, I don't know I can properly hang it! Ok, enough rambling, here's a tour for you....

The vinyl I bought at Hobby Lobby, using a thumbtack and a red Sharpie,
I was able to mark the circle and it cut easily with fabric scissors.
Had the table, chair and easel already. Hard to tell, but there are ladybugs printed on it!
You could also use leftover vinyl flooring or a plastic tablecloth for this component of the space.

One of the hooks I got at JoAnn! Hanging Evan's art smock on this one,
and I think I have a couple little kid aprons I will add to the hook as well :)

Put some of the crayons in these Elmo pails I bought from the Dollar Spot ages ago.
I thought this might be easier cleanup than trying to keep them in the boxes!

I had this in the basement, and most of what was in it ended up right in the garbage!
I like this vs. more "specific" art storage because it can change supplies easily,
if I want to take out the coloring books and put play-doh in the drawer instead, easy peasy to do so.
The drawers are large and it will be easy for Ev to clean up by himself, too.

Top drawer: Crayons, markers, scissors, glue sticks, ta-doodles,
and chalk (the back of the easel is a chalk board).

Bottom drawer: coloring books! We must have 2 dozen
of these, so glad they will finally get used! I even found some Little Einsteins
ones in the pile, which is Ev's FAVORITE right now!!

Middle drawer: paper. If your kids like art, I HIGHLY recommend
keeping all those useless flyers and old papers the kids bring home from school.
The backs make perfect art papers and then you don't waste your computer paper! I will
"supplement" this drawer with some scrapbook paper scraps as well,
so there are plenty of colors to play with. :)
Well, I hope this is a fun and useful idea to some of you! As a creative person, I feel one of the greatest gifts I can give my kids is to allow them to explore their own creativity! Additionally, this has the added benefit of being adjacent to MY studio/ craft space, so I'm hoping it will keep Ev occupied while I'M trying to be creative! LOL! That's all for now, have a super day :)

xoxo, Noelle

Wet Puddle Fun (TCPTUES173)

Hey there! I LOVED the colors over at TCP Tuesday 173 this week, so I decided to play along, I've missed using my adorable TCP stamps :) It's a great color challenge over there this week. Check it!

I had this embossed cardtock laying around from Ev's birthday party invitations (see last post...) and it seemed to be the perfect fit for this color combo. I pulled out one of my fave TCP sets Wet Puddle, and gave it a go with my Copics, which I haven't used in a while! I think I did a little better with the hair, but I need to take a Copics class so I can learn and get better! I paper pieced her jacket. I also did a little paper piercing along the left side, and some punching with my fave edger punch. I made the "puddle" with a punched oval stamped with the "bubble" stamp from the set. I gave her a giant sparkly orange button on her jacket ;) I completed my card with some orange bakers twine and a yellow button.

For the finishing touch, I decorated the inside, inspired by awesome TCP designer Jenny Peterson, and you should REALLY click on that link to go see her adorable card with these colors! Her card is COMPLETELY perfect! I LOVE it!!! :)

Well, that is it for me tonight! I hope you like my first TCP/Copic/fussy cut card in AWHILE! LOL, have a stellar evening!

-Noelle

Little Einsteins Birthday Party Invitations

Hello there, all! Just popping in with Evan's birthday party invites. I CANNOT believe my **baby** will be four in a few weeks? How is that possible?

Anyhow, Evan is HUGE into the Little Einsteins right now. He was a MAJOR Elmo fan for years and about 6 months ago he flipped, Elmo is now only ok, and the Little Einsteins are SO COOL! For info/ideas from last year's Elmo party, go here. And, of course..... NO ONE, I mean NO ONE has Little Einsteins anything anymore! I guess their big years were 2008-09? Truly, obscure birthday party themes are kind of a tradition around here.... It's a good thing i'm a crafty mom & a huge birthday party junkie myself! ;) It seems that MOST years, my boys pick something that's just a little off of the hot trend of the moment, and then I have to figure it out..... Just between you and me, I secretly enjoy the challenge ;)

So, since it was literally impossible to find Little Einsteins scrapbook stuff, I decided to do something a little different & make a more "generic" invitation and cut puzzles from a computer printout. I printed 4 of these pictures per a single sheet of cardstock and cut them out with my puzzle die. I worded the invite like it was a mystery, and the kids will have to put the puzzle together to find out the party theme. My initial idea was to make the front the picture printout, put all the info on the back of the card and then cut the whole invitation into a puzzle, but my DH made the point that the kids will lose the pieces, and then the parents won't know when and where the party is! LOL. So, I heeded his advice and made the invitation separately.

I found some cute cabochons at Michaels; balloons and the musical notes which I thought really fit the Little Einsteins theme. I also picked up this cute dry embossed cardstock with the dots there, the dry embossing is subtle enough that I could run this through the computer! :) So, simple invite, layered cardstock in this Bazzill textured cardstock, and SU! cardstock in Poppy Parade and Summer Sun. Quickie invites, as I popped those cabochons on, and Voila! Done! :)
Well, I will keep you posted on my Quest to figure out the Little Einsteins birthday party! ;) Thanks to my middle son, Collin, I **DID** find party plates/blowouts/stickers for goodie bags at WalMart, then went back 2 days later to get some more and they had pulled it all of the shelves! Honestly! I'll have to "piece together my OWN puzzle" on this one! Have a great day :)

xoxox, Noelle

supply list: solid cardstock in Whisper White, Poppy Parade, and Summer Sun: SU!; puzzle make #2 die: Sizzix; musical notes cabochons: Jolees; balloon cabochons: Recollections; blue textured cardstock: Bazzill

Funky Christmas card (CQC #99/ JB34)

Hey there! Wanted to show you this fun Christmas card in non-traditional colors for this week's Christmasy inspired colourQ 99jingle belles and Clean and Simple sketch challenge.

So, this card was one of those where I ended up ripping the entire thing apart and starting over MORE than once! Particularly that stamped panel in the middle, I just COULD NOT get it right! I think I wasted an entire sheet of cardstock since I screwed up my stamping so many times! I used some yet-to-be-inked ornament stamps that I bought from the Unity clearance section a few months ago. The branch stamp is from an old (2006) Stampin' Up! set called "Best Blossoms." I actually was getting rid of several old stamps and a friend wanted to add to my pile, so we ended up exchanging a few (I'm proud to say I only kept 3 of her sets, but got rid of 20, yea!) and this is one of hers that I took. Shockingly enough, I don't really have very many flower stamp sets, I'm just not a real flower girl, at least in stamps!

So, once I FINALLY got my ornaments lined up right, and finally got the circle cut to the right size, and THEN made a second one because I screwed up the first correctly-stamped/correctly-sized circle with Crystal Effects, well THEN I added some Diamond Stickles to the ornaments a bit, just a tiny bit for some glitz. VERY pleased to say that was the LAST time I'll be stamping and cutting this!

I went through my Christmas/Winter themed papers and found this new bg paper, which really is more orange/yellow than it looks like in this pic. The mitten print paper is a scrap, a REALLY old scrap! I added some gold gems to the "holes" left by the border punch. I ran a strip of ribbon between the DP and the border piece, pleating it at the top a bit. Stamped my sentiment, and adhered my circular panel with some foam tape.
Final step was to add some 3D snowflake stickers, some of these I peeled apart and re-adhered to be the way I wanted. I also added a glitzy "mirrorball" looking snowflake brad, some gems and an upholstered brad from my stash. I think the glass gems, and the glitzy brad really give this card a kind of kitschy feeling that I think is really FUN ;)

Well, that is all for me today, folks! I hope you will come play with us at colourQ this week! I always love roaming through the Gallery seeing what your clever minds come up with. Have a stellar day, all!

xoxox, Noelle

supply list: solid cardstock/inks/ribbon/branch stamps: Stampin' Up!; ornament and sentiment stamps: Unity; circle cutter: Creative Memories; border punch: EK Success; upholstered brad/3D snowflakes/gems: K&Company; snowflake brad: I forgot! I am sorry :(

Also, raid your holiday scraps for non-traditional colored scraps, you might be pleased to find some ORANGE holiday themed scraps that make the perfect accent for your card :)

A little birdie says "hello"

Well hello there, all you papercrafting friends! How are you today? Hope you are doing well :)
Wanted to share a sweet little card I made late Saturday night, I have been having another bout with insomnia this week, ugh! So, up late on Sat. night and decided to make this little card, I'd been wanting to use these adorable bird and expressions cling rubber stamps from Inkadinkado ;) I mean, HOW SWEET is this little guy? I need to make 2 more cards to use all 3 of those cute birds!

And, before I forget, my friend Annette at Clever Creations is having an AWESOME blog candy giveaway! Check it out for a chance to win some fab prizes. :)

Okey dokey, back to the card. I confess this is one of the simple "go to" layouts I often use when cardmaking. Plain simple front panel, usually some DP on there, and then a strip at the bottom with a single accent that "pops" on the right. Here is another variation, and here, and here, and here. There a a "few" examples, though I'm sure I could dig up even more!

For the "strip" at the bottom I decided to forego my usual ribbon and flower combo. Instead I made a "strip" of mini puffy flower stickers and for the accent, I took a bottle cap and lined it with a punched scrap of paper, and filled it with dimensional glaze. Then, I added 3 more puff stickers to the glaze and let the whole thing dry overnight, I think it's a fun and different accent :)

My little birdie was colored in stamping and chalk markers and I coated the word bubble in the dimensional glaze, too. Once everything was dry, I punched the corners and filed the edges with an emery board to clean it up.

I had initially planned to mat the bird image in red cardstock as well, but once my card was coming together, I really liked the CAS feel the crisp white card gave to the busyness of the gingham and those riotous flowers. Gives your eye that perfect place to "stop." So, I left it and I love it this way....

Well, that is ALL for me today, peeps! Have the best darn Monday you can muster and I'll be back tomorrow with another fab challenge for colourQ!

xoxox, Noelle

supply list: stamps: Inkadinkado/Inkadinkaclings; stamping markers: Inkadinkado; chalk markers: Zig; DP and puffy stickers: K&Company; dimensional glaze; bottle cap; punches: EK Success punches

DUST IT OFF!: Who needs to BUY bottle caps? they are FREE people! I hang onto any I get from sodas, hard cider, etc, and use them in my projects. Besides, even though I used the inside of this one, so many of them have adorable little pics on them, this one actually has a flower on the back. :)

Road Trip 2 Sacramento scrapbook layout

Hi there, happy Friday! Just wanted to share a cute page I got done yesterday! I started looking through my stash, and discovered these cute car printed papers and then started formulating a plan to use the giant letter stickers as the base for this fun and funky title, which used some old half-used sheets of letter stickers, too. Do you like this? I think it turned out pretty cute! :)

The paper actually had a map printed on it that showed both Denver and Sacramento. So I drew lines between the cities and added some star brads and some smiley stickers, too. :)

I tried to give this page a feeling of motion between the arrows and the printed cars all heading the same direction.
On the second page, I added some stickers from a few different packs. I used a postcard embellishment for my journaling block, and what a story I had to tell! This had been the CRAZIEST road trip! It was me, my Mom, and my boys, plus we had to transport my sister's cat! On the second day it was just a comedy of errors, EVERYTHING that could go wrong, DID! LOL, if you read my journaling, you can hear more about it. What a time! Hence the rain cloud and raindrop stickers above the journaling block.

Well, that is it for me for today! I hope you like my page, I'll be back soon with some more fun projects!

xoxoxox, Noelle
supply list: All supplies are K&Company or Sticko except star brads are Recollections

DUST IT OFF!: You CAN make a cute title with mismatched stickers, just play arund with your layout and come up with something that flows well! Those tag and round letter stickers have been in my stash for YEARS! So glad to use some today :)

Mother's Day scrapbook pages (CQC #98)

Hey all! Time for another fab color combo at the colourQ! I hope you will play along with us this week and have fun with these watery hues.

I LOVE these colors, of course! Blues, greens and browns are so TOTALLY my thing! :) I pulled these pics from Mother's Day of 2010, since there was a lot of blue in them. I ended up using some resin flowers on them, but, I wish I'd had some pretty crocheted flowers in these colors, like in the inspiration pic!

In retrospect, I wish I'd done a bit of background stamping on the page. Somehow, it still lacks a little "oomph" for my taste! I hand cut banners for the title and pertinent info. I created a big flower in the middle with 2 patterned flowers and a Prima flower, a button, and some twine.

Well, that's it for me today! I hope you will play at colourQ with us this week! "see" you back here soon!

xoxox, Noelle

supply list: solid cardstock: SU!; letter stickers: October Afternoon and Authentique; flowers: BasicGrey and Prima; button: Crate Paper; twine: SU!; resin flowers: Prima and Recollections; die cut scalloped circle that reads "three:" Jillibean Soup; sentiment stamp: MFT; sentiment sticker: lilybee designs

DUST IT OFF!: Use scraps of paper to cut banners for a fresh way to highlight your page!

Felt Flower projects

Well, hello, hello! I wanted to show you something that's a bit of a departure today! I took this online class on the Spotted Canary! Here is the link to sign up for the Fashionable Felt class! In one of the prizes I won from there, I had received some felt flowers, a sheet of wool felt, and some wool roving. Once I took that online class (it's a free class! Consists of 4 videos, each around 8 minutes long.) I knew how to use all my new toys!

This first project is my hat. You might remember me talking about how the trim fell off & I subsequently used it on a card here. So I thought this would be a great accent to jazz it up a little! The orange flower was premade and I added the blue details to the petals with the roving. I think it turned out cute! :)

For these bobby pins, I cut out some of the sheet felt with my Cuttlebug. You can do this with any press style die-cut machine. I have cut craft felt on it a lot, but was glad to find it cut this wool felt too, since it's much thicker than craft felt. The only tip with cutting fabric or felt, is to add a piece of scrap cardstock or computer paper underneath the felt. I used a Cuttlebug die here, so the "sandwich" was (bottom to top) A plate, B plate, paper, felt, die, B plate. Then I use the roving to add detail to the flowers in blue and purple. Finally, I hot glued these little guys to bobby pins. I think this would be super cute in the winter with a turtleneck, don't you? :)

My last flower I turned into a pin. I thought this would be cute on this denim jacket or a winter coat. Could be a fun way to brighten up all the blacks and grays I tend to wear in the winter.... Again, like the hat, this was a large premade flower and I dressed up the petals by felting the roving onto it.

Well that's it for me! Have a stellar day!

xoxox, Noelle

supply list: all supplies by FeltWorks/EK Success, except die which is Cuttlebug

DUST IT OFF!: Dress up your old clothes and damaged accessories with some fun felt flowers!

SCRAPS DAY!!!!

NO NEW PAPER WAS CUT IN THE MAKING OF THESE PROJECTS. There's my public service announcement for the day ;) Hey folks, how are you on this fine Sunday? Here's some goodies that were made entirely using.... drumroll please........ nothing but scraps! As you know, I dedicated the year of 2011 on paper&ICE to using up old products. When it comes to not wasting your money and your supplies, I'm a fan. :) "Scraps Day" was a term I came up with a few years back. Every now and again, I will challenge myself to make up several cards or projects using nothing but scraps! Sometimes I'll add the caveat of either old or yet-to-be-inked stamps to the mix. I will allow myself to cut the card bases, and or the base of the scrapbook page if I'm scrapping, but everything else MUST be old. Scraps & half used sticker sheets are your friends! I challenge YOU to have a scraps day sometime soon. You bought your supplies because you liked them right? I find that even though I may be wowed or excited by the latest and greatest goodies, I usually still like my old stuff just fine too. Another great thing about scraps day is I'll usually come up with a simple design, and end up shooting out several cards quickly! That's what happened today. Using tone on tone colors, and some punches and a couple older stamps, I got 5 cards done pretty fast! Don't you think these will be good for just about any event? I'm going to use 2 of them today for cousin and nephew birthday cards! Here's some closeups...

Oddly enough, I think the yellow one might be my fave :)

Ok, next project, my cousin (well, actually my step cousin in law, LOL) asked me to make the tags for her daughter's birthday goodie bags. They were going with a dog theme, in colors of blue and brown. Again, I only used scraps, punches, a doggie die, and old twill tape, ribbons and fibers. I needed 20, so they all turned out a little different since I was using stuff up. Here's some of my faves:

That blue denim "paper" on the two bottom right side ones is actually cardboard from an old sticker pack! I loved the pattern on it when I opened the stickers, so I threw it in the scraps bin, and lo and behold, was actually able to use it! Woot, woot!

Well, that's it for me today. If you have a scraps day, leave a comment and link on this post & I'll come check out your scrappy creations! Have a stellar day! :)

xoxox, Noelle

DUST IT OFF!: It's ALL a dust off today, so much so, I don't have a supply list.
