Well hello there, all you papercrafting friends! How are you today? Hope you are doing well :)
Wanted to share a sweet little card I made late Saturday night, I have been having another bout with insomnia this week, ugh! So, up late on Sat. night and decided to make this little card, I'd been wanting to use these adorable bird and expressions cling rubber stamps from Inkadinkado ;) I mean, HOW SWEET is this little guy? I need to make 2 more cards to use all 3 of those cute birds!
And, before I forget, my friend Annette at Clever Creations is having an AWESOME blog candy giveaway! Check it out for a chance to win some fab prizes. :)
Okey dokey, back to the card. I confess this is one of the simple "go to" layouts I often use when cardmaking. Plain simple front panel, usually some DP on there, and then a strip at the bottom with a single accent that "pops" on the right. Here is another variation, and here, and here, and here. There a a "few" examples, though I'm sure I could dig up even more!
For the "strip" at the bottom I decided to forego my usual ribbon and flower combo. Instead I made a "strip" of mini puffy flower stickers and for the accent, I took a bottle cap and lined it with a punched scrap of paper, and filled it with dimensional glaze. Then, I added 3 more puff stickers to the glaze and let the whole thing dry overnight, I think it's a fun and different accent :)
My little birdie was colored in stamping and chalk markers and I coated the word bubble in the dimensional glaze, too. Once everything was dry, I punched the corners and filed the edges with an emery board to clean it up.
I had initially planned to mat the bird image in red cardstock as well, but once my card was coming together, I really liked the CAS feel the crisp white card gave to the busyness of the gingham and those riotous flowers. Gives your eye that perfect place to "stop." So, I left it and I love it this way....
Well, that is ALL for me today, peeps! Have the best darn Monday you can muster and I'll be back tomorrow with another fab challenge for colourQ!

DUST IT OFF!: Who needs to BUY bottle caps? they are FREE people! I hang onto any I get from sodas, hard cider, etc, and use them in my projects. Besides, even though I used the inside of this one, so many of them have adorable little pics on them, this one actually has a flower on the back. :)
