Funky Christmas card (CQC #99/ JB34)

Hey there! Wanted to show you this fun Christmas card in non-traditional colors for this week's Christmasy inspired colourQ 99jingle belles and Clean and Simple sketch challenge.

So, this card was one of those where I ended up ripping the entire thing apart and starting over MORE than once! Particularly that stamped panel in the middle, I just COULD NOT get it right! I think I wasted an entire sheet of cardstock since I screwed up my stamping so many times! I used some yet-to-be-inked ornament stamps that I bought from the Unity clearance section a few months ago. The branch stamp is from an old (2006) Stampin' Up! set called "Best Blossoms." I actually was getting rid of several old stamps and a friend wanted to add to my pile, so we ended up exchanging a few (I'm proud to say I only kept 3 of her sets, but got rid of 20, yea!) and this is one of hers that I took. Shockingly enough, I don't really have very many flower stamp sets, I'm just not a real flower girl, at least in stamps!

So, once I FINALLY got my ornaments lined up right, and finally got the circle cut to the right size, and THEN made a second one because I screwed up the first correctly-stamped/correctly-sized circle with Crystal Effects, well THEN I added some Diamond Stickles to the ornaments a bit, just a tiny bit for some glitz. VERY pleased to say that was the LAST time I'll be stamping and cutting this!

I went through my Christmas/Winter themed papers and found this new bg paper, which really is more orange/yellow than it looks like in this pic. The mitten print paper is a scrap, a REALLY old scrap! I added some gold gems to the "holes" left by the border punch. I ran a strip of ribbon between the DP and the border piece, pleating it at the top a bit. Stamped my sentiment, and adhered my circular panel with some foam tape.
Final step was to add some 3D snowflake stickers, some of these I peeled apart and re-adhered to be the way I wanted. I also added a glitzy "mirrorball" looking snowflake brad, some gems and an upholstered brad from my stash. I think the glass gems, and the glitzy brad really give this card a kind of kitschy feeling that I think is really FUN ;)

Well, that is all for me today, folks! I hope you will come play with us at colourQ this week! I always love roaming through the Gallery seeing what your clever minds come up with. Have a stellar day, all!

xoxox, Noelle

Your comments make my day! :) I've found it's easiest for me to return comments 1-2 times per week, so it might be a few days, but I WILL get over to your blogs and see what awesome things you've been up to. Thanks SO MUCH for popping by, blog friends!
