Mexican Tile Thanks (SFYTT)

Hi everyone! Happy Memorial Day weekend! I hope everyone is doing well. My hubby has had to work ALOT the last few days, and, oddly enough this makes me productive around the house. So far I've cleaned out the fridge, cleaned my kitchen floors, dishes, swept AND (tada!) now this card! Though I must say I would much rather he was home than working....
I'm also very excited about our BIG family BBQ tomorrow at my stepsister's house. It's always lots of family, lots of fun, and too much food! :) I need to remember to make the fruit salad tonight & the homemade guacamole. Hopefully I don't eat it all before I get there! I've learned that the BEST way to make guac is with ripe avacado, fresh lemon juice & one of those spice packets they sell by the avocados. SO much healthier than adding mayo and truthfully it tastes SO much better this way!!
I've got my godson here this weekend, so we are up one more boy than normal, there are currently FOUR little boys running around in the sprinkler outside. As soon as I finish this post it will be the BEST time of the day, (NAPTIME!!) for my toddler, Evan. :)
Ok here's the card, another "Sketch For You To Try" (SFYTT) link here to the sketch....
I gotta tell you, I ripped this card apart and remade it about 8 times! I just couldn't get it all to work together, BUT I think I'm finally pleased with the end result! The background paper is from BoBunny it's called "Flower Child Aquarius." It's one of those things where I saw the paper, had NO idea what I'd use it for, didn't need it & was SO in love with it I bought it anyway! The little "tile" looking piece is paper from TPC Studio, a line called "Mediterranean Summer." The rest of the cardstock is from Stampin' Up! as well as the sentiment stamp (from the set "Flight of the Butterfly") & the hardware piece is also SU. The colors are as follows; Bermuda Bay, Tangerine Tango, Close To Cocoa & confetti white. The flower stamp is from an old acrylic set called "Spring" by Autumn Leaves. The sentiment "ribbon" is hand cut by moi. Oh and finally the dies are Nestabilities by Spellbinders. I LOVE these fun colors, so happy & summery:) Well, that's enough chattiness from me (can't you tell I've had very little adult interaction lately, when I go on, and on, and on....)

Have a super Memorial Day!

Glitter Giraffe card for baby Mike

Hi there! Hope you are well today, we are not so great here, unfortunately. I've got a 3rd grader with the stomach flu :(. Well, at least it ensures plenty of crafty time at home today while he rests. Such is life, right? This card is for my new nephew Michael aka "Mike." The only pic I currently have is on my phone, but maybe later I can figure out how to post it here. My best friend described him as a "prince" and I couldn't agree more, he is soooooo cute! I am a total baby nut, they just remind you of all things that are right with the world. Ok, getting back to the card now..... :)
The square glass pieces are microscope slides, the aqua scallop circle piece has a metallic-y sheen and it's by The Paper Company. The cardstock used is Stampin' Up! Barely Banana, Apricot Appeal & Chocolate Chip. The giraffe stamp is from Stampin' Up's "Animal Stories" set, and its tough to see here, but heres what I did.... I stamped the giraffe first in Barely Banana Ink on the Apricot paper, then I reinked it with the Martha Stewart Crafts glue pad, and moved the stamp down a bit further towards the right hand corner & stamped with the glue. Then I sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds glitter over the glue giraffe. Finally I stamped the sentiments with brown StazOn ink onto the glass slides. I ran the slides through the Xyron, so the adhesive would be even & then applied them to the giraffe. All 3 sentiments are from an acrylic astamp set & I don't know the brand name, but I wasn't thrilled with the acrylic stamp on glass as it appears a bit fuzzy. Finally, the button & twine are also from SU! The ribbon is American Crafts brand. I wa sreally pleased with this color combo, a bit different from the traditional baby blue, which I usually do. This is an original design. Well, that's it, back to the sick kiddo. Have a great day &TFL!!! :)

1st time trying "Sketch For You To Try" bird-day card

I finally got around to card making today, but it was LATE in the day! :) Here's my take on Jen delMuro's "Sketch for you to try" (SFYTT) Heres the link to this weeks sketch. http://iheart2stamp.com/2010/05/22/sketch-for-you-to-try-39/

Here's my card a buckle/birdie/bday card...... :) Its a trifold card that might look complicated, but it actually came together very easily (which was good since it WAS late in the day, after all!)

This is the CUTEST Stampin' Up! set called "Good Friend" I love that happy bird! I've also used this set for my stepbrothers baby shower invitations and also for some Easter cards in 2009.

Heres some other views...

Still hoping I can get my graphic designer sister to help me with the header. Loving the new FREE background that I downloaded today! Link is in the upper left hand corner of the page. Hope everyone has a happy Tuesday!! :)

Paper Charms

Hi there! Hope everyone is doing well today! We had a very fun & very busy weekend. 2 soccer games, 1 baseball game, a baby shower, and a soccer party! Whew! It was so fun & can I say, I'm secretly glad it's Monday & I have nowhere to go!! :) These are some little paper charms I made last week, they are SUPER simple and inexpensive to make. I'm not sure yet if I'll use them on a card or make a charm keychain or something like that. First, you pick up your charm "blanks." They are usually used for making photo charm bracelets, I got these at Michaels and they were just a few dollars for a set of 3 blanks. Then you cut your paper to fit the blank & insert it. Then you fill up the blank with a dimensional glaze. I use Stampin' Up! Crystal Effects, but any brand will do. Just make sure there are no air bubbles (pop with a pin if there are). and let dry. It will take several hours to fully harden. These particular charms had some holes in the back, so some of the glaze leaked out of the back, I just kept moving them around on my plastic mat so they wouldn't be cemented to it! The lower of the 2 charms has a little punched flower on it, SO cute from Stampin' Up! called Itty Bitty Punch Pack, teeny tiny little punches:) I'm going to try and get to that SFYTT challenge later, so hopefully I'll have get a card made today. Also, I'm working on getting this page fancied up a bit. I'm no graphic artist, but I want it to be prettier, so bear with me as this page is under construction ;) Hope everyone has a GREAT day!!

Blue Roses-1st try with Copics

Hi there! Here is a recent card I made using my new fun toy, Copic markers! I am loving them and may even take a class so I can learn how to use them more effectively. I used a glue pad to stamp the roses & stick the glitter down. For the big rose, I heat embossed a clear rose on white cardstock & then Used the Copic markers to color the rose, blend & shade it. THAT is what I love about the Copics, you can blend and shade with them! Well, I gotta fly, I'm going to try and post to the "Sketch for you to try" (SFYTT)blog for the recent sketch AND my son has his last soccer game of the season tonight! Can't wait! TFL!

Here's the link http://www.spottedcanary.com/forum.aspx?g=posts&t=6758 Fringe made me think of cowboys, so I used a western theme on this card. Hope everyone has a great weekend!! :)
