Hi all, we are having arctic temps here in CO this week. We live a block from my kids school, but I drove them this morning, because the windchill was 20 BELOW zero. My youngest didn't have school due to a broken heater at the school, so I was home aaallllll day. After picking up, working out, playing Memory, play doh, reading books, and cleaning the kitchen, I decided it was time for some card time. It's amazing how much you can get done when you simply sit at home from 7-4. Especially when you are down from 3 kids to one (all together, they mess faster than I can clean, but alone he doesn't stand a chance! Ha!)
I had been DYING to rip into my new Papertrey Ink set Love Potion. I can't remember where I saw this set first, on someone's blog for sure! And Tracey has the cutest card up today with the ColourQ colors for this week. So check it out! I just knew this would be the BEST set for making guy cards for my hubby and my older sons. Also, some of my good friends run the science fair every year, and this would be cute to make some cards for them too. This set would also work well for teacher cards, dontcha think?
I was also really intrigued my the sketch this week at Unscripted Sketches #93, isn't this one cool?
I thought the notebook paper went along well with the science theme. I made this for a Valentine, either for my hubby or one of the boys.
I die cut the edge of some notebook looking DP (Jillibean Soup) with one of the dies I got from the last TCP release as Swanky Stamper. I LOVE this one! I die cut the beakers and flasks and stamped them. I used washi for the lines in the sketch. I used black as the one that ran perpindicular to the others, it stopped the card from becoming too busy and gives the eye a place to rest.
The final touches were stamping right on the DP and the paper clip. Then I added the whole panel to a Melon Mambo card base using 3D dots and putting it on an angle. I hope you like it, I was pretty happy with it. :) Have a wonderful evening.
xo, Noelle
I saw Tracey's adorable card, and you've used this set in a fun way too! SO clever! Stay warm....20 below wind chill is WAY too cold!
