Snowbody Shaker Card (JB30)

Hi there! You should be proud! I'm playing an extra challenge TWO weeks in a row! LOL ;) This is for the O-HOLEy Night! challenge at Jingle Belles this week! I really love that challenge, you should check it out if you haven't! I love it because making Christmas cards makes me just a **smidgen** happier than making regular cards, so silly I know, but I'm a Christmas baby! It's my holiday, I can't help it! Also, everyone who plays is really friendly as are Lauren and Stef. so come and PLAY! :)

So the challenge this week is to make a window card! I made my window into a shakerbox, I used to LOVE making shaker cards & I haven't made one in years, so it was time to dust off the old skills in that arena! I started out by making a green card base with a red mat on it, & I used a corner rounder on all pieces. Then I went to make the shaker, here's how you do it:

1. Punch (or die-cut) a hole in the front panel/piece of your card, I DID NOT punch a hole through the green base or the red mat, just the snowflake DP. Tape acetate to the backside of your panel with the punched hole, covering the hole.
2. Using small pieces of foam tape, cover the backside of your paper, just going around the edge of the hole you've created. On this card I did 2 layers of foam tape. I usually think one layer is not quite thick enough, but you can experiment.
3. Before removing the backing on the top layer of foam tape, fill your box up with whatever you want to fill it with. I used silver microbeads here, but mini buttons, beads, or confetti work well. I'm not a fan of glitter, though, because it tends to stick the acetate.
4. Remove paper backing from tape, and adhere your image piece to the tape (in this case I used a white heat embossed snowman).
5. Add more foam tape to the bottom of the panel, so it's all the same thickness, adhere to card and embellish.

Another tip is that I use leftover acetate from sticker sheets. As you finish a sheet of stickers, look at the sheet & if it doesn't show the outline of the sticker shapes on there, keep it for your acetate needs! Much cheaper than buying transparency sheets or acetate at the craft store and SO MANY stickers come on these sheets, too!

Well, that's all for me today, see you again soon :)

xoxox, Noelle

supply list: punches: stamps: Unity; EK Success; microbeads: Martha Stewart Crafts; patterned paper: BoBunny; ribbon, solid cardstock and white craft inkpad: SU!; glitter button: Recollections; ribbon scraps; paper scraps; white embossing powder; heat tool; foam tape: Scotch

DUST IT OFF!: The paper that the snowman and sentiment are on is a scrap from my bin. so is the ribbon making up that fun bow. Also, save the acetate from your sticker sheets for these kind of projects! :)

Your comments make my day! :) I've found it's easiest for me to return comments 1-2 times per week, so it might be a few days, but I WILL get over to your blogs and see what awesome things you've been up to. Thanks SO MUCH for popping by, blog friends!
